Piece of junkMarch 9, 2010 Julie K. Aldrich(Walla Walla, WA USA) I bought this product in January and by February the VCR didn't work. When I wrote to Toshiba to find out what I could do they told me I could pay to send it to their factory and they would fix it and send it back. I suggested they send me a new player and then I would send them the piece of junk and I was told that isn't what they do, even though I had the player for only a month. With that kind of customer service, I won't buy another Toshiba of any kind.
VHS + DVD dubbingMarch 8, 2010 Gary L. Story(Tujunga, CA) Works fine. Tape rewind is a bit slow. DVD finalling and formatting is a bit slow.
Enjoying Toshiba's Combo DVR620 DVD/VHS RecorderFebruary 28, 2010 P. S. Tave(Fort Worth, TX) I am enjoying having the combination and not having 2 to 3 boxes. It is nice and sleek and the movies show well on screen. I had my doubts but, it was easy to connect to my screen tv and I did make sure
that I ordered hdmi cables to ensure a successful connection. If you are thinking about a combo then
this is a good choice.
Toshiba DVR 620 - a good, solid machineFebruary 26, 2010 avid golfer(Southeast Pa) I purchased this DVD/VHS Recorder in late Jan 2010 primarily to transfer VHS-C tapes to DVD. To date, I have transferred more than 40 VHS tapes to DVD with very little difficulty. The unit was easy to set-up with my TV and the process of dubbing tapes to DVD was reasonably straight forward. The instruction manual could be easier to read, but I had little difficulty with all of the necessary steps. I am very pleased with its performance so far. One caveat of mine is to be careful when inserting the VHS tapes as there is a tendency for the tape to "hang-up" while being inserted. I have not yet tried to record to DVD directly from my set-top box and TV.
DVD recording challengingFebruary 22, 2010 Malka Goldbloom(Knoxville, TN, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this unit so I could record my home VHS tapes onto DVD, as well as watch our old tapes.
Set-up was standard for DVD to tv. I did not need to read the instructions.
The picture quality on our large tv screen is somewhat fuzzy. This may be the nature of VHS to larger-than-the-old-tv rather than the unit itself.
I have yet to successfully transfer a tape onto DVD in a format that is usable on anything other than this machine. The instructions for doing this jump from page to page making it difficult to follow. For those who are not "old geezers" (my daughter's quote) this process may be intuitive, but as a technology immigrant I do not find it to be.
